The Arab Gulf is a rapidly modernizing world that is deeply entrenched in old ways. I hope to provide a glimpse of this region, particularly its social and cultural complexities, in this blog. As I travel around the Gulf, and other areas in the wider Middle East, I will focus on the people, their beliefs, their lifestyles and their traditions, all of which are so rarely accurately represented (if at all) in the American and world media.
